Maurice Charney, distinguished professor of English, emeritus, at Rutgers University, has published twenty-four books on Shakespeare and a range of other topics, including comedy, film, and modern drama. Having dealt in his two most recent books with love and aging in Shakespeare, he here turns his attention to villainy and evil. Dr. Charney was president of the Shakespeare Association of America from 1987 to 1988 and was awarded the Medal of the City of Tours in France in 1989.
