This collection offers twenty new essays based on original research, by practiced scholars, in the Drew University Cather Collection. The volume supplies additionally a reader friendly Finding Aid for the collection. The first.com ponent of that archive was the private collection of original manuscripts and first editions (some novels had several different first editions) once owned by Frederick B. Adams of the J. P. Morgan Library. To these rich materials were added the Finn and Barbara Caspersen private collection, the Sir Yehudi Menuhin private collection (including birthday-gift books), the Earl and Achsah Brewster private collection (including family letters about Aunt Willa), a typescript edition of Sapphira and the Slave Girl, and the Louise Guerber Burroughs collection of letters and clippings. Burroughs diary and letters provides the only fully documented record of a Cather friendship.
